Getting Started

Core product behavior and account basics.

What is MealMain used for?

MealMain is a connected meal planning and recipe discovery platform. You can browse recipes from verified creators, save meals you want to cook, add them to a weekly planner, generate a smart shopping list, and track your nutrition — all from one account. It is designed to replace the scattered combination of recipe apps, spreadsheets, and paper lists most people use today.

Is MealMain free to use?

Yes — the core experience is completely free. You can browse and save unlimited recipes, follow creators, use the planner, and generate shopping lists at no cost. MealMain Premium unlocks advanced features including detailed nutrition history, weekly nutrition summaries, and enhanced planner controls for people who want deeper tracking.

Do I need an account to browse recipes?

You can browse verified recipes and creator profiles without signing in. However, account features — including saving recipes, following creators, using the planner, adding items to your shopping list, and accessing nutrition tracking — all require a free account. Creating an account takes under a minute.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. MealMain is available as a mobile app alongside this web platform. The mobile app is designed for in-kitchen use and on-the-go shopping, while the web platform is optimised for planning, recipe creation, and viewing detailed nutrition. Your account, recipes, planner, and cart sync across both.

Recipes and Discovery

How Home, Explore, Following, and filters work.

What recipes appear in the Home feed and Discover?

Home and Discover show verified recipes by default. Verification is a quality review that confirms a recipe has complete ingredients, clear instructions, and accurate information — so the recipes you see in the main feed meet a consistent quality standard. If you follow specific creators, their recipes appear in your Following feed regardless of verification status.

How does recipe filtering work in Explore?

Explore lets you search across recipes, creators, and individual ingredients. Recipe search supports filters for cooking time, difficulty level, category, dietary preferences, and serving size. You can combine multiple filters to narrow results quickly — for example, finding high-protein recipes under 30 minutes that serve two people.

How do I save a recipe to cook later?

On any recipe card or recipe detail page, tap the save icon to add it to your saved recipes. Saved recipes appear in your profile and can be added to the planner from there. You can also like recipes to show appreciation for a creator's work — likes are visible to the creator and help surface popular content.

Can I add individual ingredients instead of full recipes?

Yes. The Ingredient Search tool lets you find specific ingredients and add them directly to your planner or shopping cart. This is useful for tracking individual foods that are not part of a structured recipe — like a piece of fruit, a protein shake, or a handful of nuts.

Planner and Shopping

Serving logic, weekly planning, and shopping list behaviour.

How do I use the weekly planner?

The planner lets you assign recipes or standalone ingredients to specific days of the week. You set the number of servings you intend to eat, and MealMain scales the ingredient quantities accordingly. At the end of the week — or whenever you are ready to shop — you can send one meal, several meals, or the entire week's plan to your shopping cart in one action.

How does the shopping list work?

The shopping list is built from your planner entries and any manually added items. Ingredients from recipes are grouped by recipe so you can easily track what is for what meal. Ingredients that appear across multiple recipes (like olive oil or garlic) are consolidated into a shared group to prevent duplicate purchases. You can check items off as you shop and review past shopping lists in your history.

Can I adjust servings when adding to the planner?

Yes. When you add a recipe to the planner, you set how many servings you want. MealMain uses that number to scale all ingredient quantities proportionally when the meal is sent to cart. This means a recipe for four people will correctly scale down to two servings — or up to eight — without any manual calculation.

What is MealMain Premium and what does it unlock?

MealMain Premium unlocks advanced nutrition features including detailed daily macro breakdowns, weekly nutrition history, and enhanced planner controls. It is designed for people who want to track their diet more precisely — whether for fitness goals, weight management, or general health awareness. Free users can still use the planner and shopping list without any restrictions.

Creators and Publishing

Creating recipes, creator accounts, and content standards.

Can I publish my own recipes on MealMain?

Yes. Any registered user can create and publish recipes. You can keep recipes private (visible only to you) or publish them publicly to your profile. If you want your recipes to appear in the main Home feed and Discover surfaces, you can apply to become a verified creator. Verified creator status is reviewed to ensure content meets MealMain's quality standards.

What is a verified creator?

Verified creators are users whose recipes appear in the main discovery feeds (Home and Discover). Verification confirms that a creator consistently publishes complete, accurate recipes with proper ingredient lists, timings, and clear instructions. Non-verified users can still publish publicly to their profile and build a following — verification is a visibility upgrade, not a participation requirement.

How do I apply to become a verified creator?

Go to the Creator Application page in your account menu. There are two pathways: individual creator (for personal food bloggers, home cooks, and recipe developers) and business creator (for food brands, restaurants, and commercial publishers). Applications are reviewed manually and you will receive a status update once a decision is made.

Where do I get help or report a problem?

Open the Help & Support page from the menu for guides and common troubleshooting steps. For account-specific issues, use the Contact page to reach the support team directly. To report content that violates community guidelines, use the Report button on the recipe or profile in question.

Troubleshooting Checklist

If a page looks out of date, first refresh, then sign out/in to reload session state, and confirm your premium status if you are accessing planner or nutrition pages. For data mismatches, include route URL and a short timeline when contacting support.
